MELBOURNE – Victorian authorities will have increased powers to shut down pubs, bars and nightclubs under new laws that came into effect yesterday. The Liquor Control Reform Amendment Act 2009 was introduced after a number of alcohol-related violent incidents, including the death of a man at an inner-city nightspot.
