EELS’ seventh studio album continues very much in the vain of its predecessors. The album opens with strange noises and the kind of catchy riff you’d expect from the band. Mark Everett’s distinctive vocals croak out 12 songs on the frustration of desires. EELS have a cult following, but I don’t subscribe to it. I enjoy some of their tracks but too many pass me by. The same must be said of this album. Prizefighter and In My Dreams are excellent but most just clog up my hard drive, waiting for a time when I finally get rid of them, but if you’re a big fan you won’t be disappointed. **12
