A man who lost his house in the Black Saturday fires has questioned why families of CFA volunteers received five hours’ notice of the blaze while he had only seconds to evacuate his family into a bunker. Bevan Gobbett told the bushfires royal commission there was no stopping the wall of fire that hit his Clonbinane property on February 7. He said he had no knowledge of the fire until a last-minute phone call from a friend.
