LNG approval

A proposal to build a liquid natural gas plant, near Westbury was environmentally approved by Tasmania’s Environment Protection Authority yesterday. Proponent BOC Ltd had proved it could meet environmental demands, according to Environment Protection Authority chairman John Ramsay. BOC has lodged a permit application with the Meander Valley Council to build the plant. Mr Ramsay said the facility will use natural gas sourced from the Tasmanian Gas Pipeline at a site about 1.5km north of Westbury.
