Obama poll slide

WASHINGTON – US President Barack Obama’s popularity has slipped and most Americans oppose his push to close the Guantanamo Bay prison and his rescue of General Motors, according to a new survey. Nearly five months after Mr Obama swept into the White House, the Wall Street Journal-NBC television opinion poll yesterday found 52 per cent oppose closing the detention facility for suspected terrorists while 39 per cent support doing so. Among independent voters, Mr Obama fell from 60 per cent approval versus 31 per cent to 46 approving against 44 disapproving.
