Virgin Blue and Emirates in Launceston overseas travel deal

A DEAL between low cost airline Virgin Blue and international carrier Emirates will see cheaper overseas fares from regional airports, including Launceston, according to the airlines.Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey said in a media statement that their an interline agreement would provide a seamless, single ticket option for travellers flying from Launceston to Emirates’ extensive network of over 100 destinations in more than 60 countries.A special introductory $2005 fare offers economy class travel with Virgin Blue and Emirates from Launceston to 22 European destinations, 14 destinations in the Middle East and 4 destinations in Africa from only $2005 return including all taxes and surcharges.Mr Godfrey said the deal meant streamlined ticketing and interline of checked baggage through to the final Emirates destination. “Interline guests transiting through Sydney, Brisbane and Perth will also be provided with free transfers between the domestic and international airports for their convenience.”Reciprocal frequent flyer programs between Virgin Blue and Emirates also enables Virgins Velocity and Emirates Skywards members to earn and redeem Velocity or Skywards Points on both Virgin Blue and Emirates flights on a one-for-one point basis,” he said.Nationally, Emirates/Virgin Blue through fares are now available to/from Adelaide, Albury, Cairns, Canberra, Coffs Harbour, Gold Coast, Hobart, Launceston, Mackay, Mildura, Port Macquarie, Rockhampton and Townsville through all of Emirates Australian gateway cities Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.More information on Emirates and Virgin Blue services is available at www.emirates南京夜网/au or www.virginblue南京夜网.au.
